Kickboxer Devastated by Theft
Main Story From www.castanet.net

The theft of two championship belts has left a Lake Country kickboxer devastated. Adolfo Lozano, a Muay Thai kickboxing instructor at Lake Country Fitness Club Blackbelts, has had his International Kickboxing Federation World and National Championship Belts on display for the past five years. On Wednesday, February 9th, both were stolen from the club.

"Adolfo's devastated, it's very personal when someone does that," says club co-owner Susan Hegedus.

"It's his life work that got him those belts and for someone to take them is pretty shocking," says Hegedus, adding that the belts have no resale value. She says Lozano, a five year employee at the club, was proud to display his belts.

"Everyone was able to come and look at them, we've never had any trouble before. Adolfo is very respected, everybody is pretty upset that that would happen." Hegedus says if the belts are returned, a no-questions-asked reward will be given. Anyone with information can either call (250) 870-7156 or anonymously fill out the contact form on the Lake Country Fitness Club Blackbelts website by clicking HERE.

When Lozano won his IKF Titles he was living in Puerta Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico where he had his own gym.(PHOTO 1 & PHOTO 2)

The first IKF title he won was the IKF Pro Muay Thai Rules Mexico National Middleweight title. He won this on October 6th, 2001 in Puerta Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico when he defeated Enrique Cuellar of Aguascalientes St., Mexico, by TKO at 2:05 of round 5. (Photo below center)

Lozano retired his "National" title when he won the World Title on November 27th, 2004 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He won the IKF World Title when he defeated Jeremy Harminson of Lerna, Illinois, USA by Medical TKO at end of round 2. Adolfo split open Harminson's forehead with a vicious overhead elbow strike. (Elbows were legal in this bout.) The Ringside Doctor ruled the cut was too deep to allow Harminson to continue. Adolfo retired his IKF World Title on September 13th, 2005 after he determined a knee injury would not allow him to fight again to defend his title.

Results From AK Promotions'
IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing
February 12th, 2011 - Rocklin, California, USA

IKF Point Kickboxing Tournaments continue to serve as an excellent incubator for the sport of Kickboxing. Several competitors showed up this past weekend in Rocklin California to participant in this exciting competition and fighters and fans were delighted. There were some awesome bouts! Although the matches are semi contact, competitors struggle to finish the rounds and maintain focus on techniques and speed as oppose to brut and power.

Many at this weekend's event showed great potential for some of the big events coming to California this year. Big announcements are coming soon! Junior female fighter Kiahna Barragan of Santa Rosa, California showed great promise as one of the future kickboxing stars as she swept through the competition. However, Natasha Rosca of Rocklin gave her a great battle and the two are looking ahead to more exciting bouts in the future. The awards are nice and the atmosphere is positive. If this sounds like something you think you want your club to be apart of, you need to make it to the next IKF Point Kickboxing event!

Additionally, we were also honored to have a Retired Four Star General of the Marines in the audience General Richard Hearny. What an honor and a pleasure....the audience gave him a nice round of applause and thanked him for his years of service! We think he also enjoyed the action! :)

Get on board the IKF PKB... There is a train a' coming! Forward March!

PKB fighter Jake Van Auken is all smiles after winning first place in the Cruiserweight division...
He's getting better each time out!

Trainer Chris Hom of Milpitas brought his team which is becoming regular participants in PKB events
The evidence is starting to show in the hardware they are taking back home!

These are some of the girls that showed up to battle on February 12th, 2011 in Rocklin.
Over all winner Kiahna Barragan, of Santa Rosa and trained by Ben Brown is one to watch in the coming years.
She is fit for battle and Brings It!
Standing right, Natasha Rosca also plays for real!

MORE NEWS FOR TODAY...

Not ALL of D.C.
Was Shut Down From The Snow Storm

Winter Storms will not stop this Brave Group of Soldiers
This was from Late February, 2011

This year Eastern USA has had many icy winter storms that have shut down many areas. Despite the weather though there are those that remand at their posts. There are those few brave souls that despite the bitter cold remain out side performing their duty. A duty to them that is of the highest honor. We am referring to the
Soldiers of the US Army's Old Guard at the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

The Sentinels of the Tomb

Originally a civilian watchman was responsible for the security of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then, March 24, 1926, a military guard from the Washington Provisional Brigade (forerunner of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington) was established during the day-light hours. In 1948 the 3d U.S. Infantry "The Old Guard" assumed the post following the units reactivation in the nation's capital. Members of the 3d Infantry's Honor Guard continue to serve in this distinguished duty today.

A soldier seeking the honor of serving as a sentinel at the Tomb must possess exemplary qualities, to include American citizenship, a spotless record, and impeccable military bearing.

While on duty the sentinel crosses a 63-foot rubber surfaced walkway in exactly 21 steps. He then faces the Tomb for 21 seconds, turns again, and pauses an additional 21 seconds before retracing his steps. The 21 is symbolic of the highest salute according to dignitaries in military and state ceremonies.

As a gesture against intrusion on their post, the sentinel always bears his weapon away from the Tomb.

Only under exceptional circumstances may the guard speak or alter his silent, measured tour of duty. He will issue a warning if anyone attempts to enter the restricted area around the Tomb, but first will halt and bring his rifle to port arms.

The Guard wears the Army Dress Blue Uniform, reminiscent of the color and style worn by soldiers during the late 1800's. Tomb Guards are privileged to wear the Tomb Identification Badge on the right breast pocket. The design is an inverted open laurel wreath surrounding a representation of the front elevation of the Tomb. The words "Honor Guard" are engraved at the base of the badge. A guard leaving after at least nine months of service is entitled to wear the badge as a permanent part of the uniform.

Exciting Kickboxing Show Set for Rocklin, CA
Coach's Sport Bar!

Friday, March 11th, 5681 Lonetree Blvd. Rocklin

Doors/Bar Open At 5:30 PM & The Fights Begin At 7:PM

As Kickboxing continues to rise in popularity, AK Promotions based out of Rocklin continues to give opportunity to fighters to show their skills in front of packed houses of screaming fans. Johnny Davis, President AK Promotions just completed a sellout show in Sacramento at the Doubletree Hotel in January and is pleased with the progression over of the sport over the past few years. Next month, March 11th, 2011 the winds will blow in yet another opportunity for fight fans to witness the fury of when feet and fists are the weapons of choice.

Coach's Sports Bar is nestled on the outskirts of Rocklin, California located at 5681 Lonetree Blvd. In a relatively young community filled with soccer, baseball and football as primary sports. However, when IKF Kickboxing hits town, one bets the club will sell out fast as the town is also a big fan of contact sports.

Approximately 15 fights are currently being match for the card. One fighter from Rocklin is also scheduled to fight as well as The Inferno Dancers of Sacramento will perform on the show. Sean Cronin (R) who trains at the Rocklin Kickboxing and Boxing Club and fights at the 159lbs weight limit, will be fighting his third fight. Cronin who has very strong kicks and punches is hoping for a big win in front of his home town crowd.

IKF West Coast Champion and Rocklin resident Daniel "Hitman" Hodges will not be on the card as he is preparing for a bigger show set for Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California on April 30th, 2011.

The March 11th Main Event will be an exciting rematch between current IKF Champ Roberto Morales of Sacramento against tough Anthony Acosta of San Leandro, CA. In their first bout, Acosta felt he came out a little short with the judges and actually won but this time around he plans to turn the tides and make a win decisive! We are sure that Morales and his flamboyant fighting style will be giving his all to walk away again with the 'W'!

Don't Miss This Great Event as it will sellout fast! Do not wait to get your tickets as this is a much smaller venue than previous AK Promotions events! Regardless of your form of martial arts or just a sports fan, you will not want to miss this BIG night of Las Vegas Style Fighting in Rocklin!

WHAT-CHA ALL DOIN THIS WEEKEND?

Hope To See You At
BBDC Fight and Fitness Gyms
Grand Opening Tomorrow!

"Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity."
John F. Kennedy

If anyone has a hold on todays Fight Sports, it's Dan Stell. Dan has accomplished pretty much everything there is to accomplish in the fight world. He started his Martial Arts training in 1975 at the age of 9. Along with being the co-founder of the IKF he is also the head of officials for the IKF. He is also a Representative, Referee and Judge for the ISCF. As if that's not enough to keep him busy in the ring, he is also a Referee and Judge for the California State Athletic Commission. When we don't see him in the ring as head Referee for a Kickboxing bout he is in the ring as Referee for Pro Boxing or MMA on broadcast such as ESPN, Fox Sports, PPV, Telemundo and other Networks.

One thing that sets him apart from other officials thought is that he not only controls the sport as an official but he has "Walked the Walk" himself. He was a 4 time Kickboxing Champion (Before the IKF was founded) and is a 5th Degree Black Belt in the Kajukenbo System. As a Kickboxer, he won all but 2 of his bouts by KO or TKO and in doing so earned his nickname,

"Bam Bam!"

Dan is no stranger to other Martial Arts competition either. Before his amateur and professional career as a kickboxer he won over 100 point karate tournaments. However his biggest accomplishment to the IKF was his work in cofounding the organization with current IKF President Steve Fossum in June of 1992. The first IKF event was promoted in August that same summer and featured several of Stell's Kickboxing students who would later become some of the first IKF Champions.

Both Stell and Fossum created the foundation of the IKF from their knowledge and experience as past Kickboxers (Over 100 bouts between them and multiple titles), Trainers of Champions and Kickboxing Event Promoters. In July, of 1996, Dan stepped down as IKF Vice President to pursue other desires. One of them was to step back into the fighting ring again. During this time he fought 2 more kickboxing bouts before officially retiring as a fighter and returning to the IKF in 1998 as Head of Officials.

Dan's work with the IKF has taken him all over North America as well as around the world to places such as China, Holland, Germany, and Malaysia. As a referee he has shared the ring with some of the Greatest fighters ever such as Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Rick "The Jet" Roufus, Stan "The Man" Longinidis, Cung Le, Rudi Ott, Paul Biafore, Dave Marinoble, Carter Williams, Eric Regan, Kathy "The Punnisher" Long, Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, Ramona Gatto, Alex Gong, Enn Fairtex, Shoni Carter, Matee Jedeepitak, Danny "Hard As" Steele, Tommy Bach, Danny Hoyer, Fernando Calleros, Anthony "Powerhouse" Bartinelli, Bao Ligao, Mike Nevitt, Mark "The Hammer" Selbee, Raoul Doucet, Juan "The Ghost Warrior" Torres, Ivan Silva, Francis "Footloose" Farley, Curtis Schuster, Tommy "The Terminator" Kimber, Trent "Thunderfoot" Tompkins, Randy "The Taz" Bussart, Duane "Bang" Ludwig, Trisha "TNT" Hill, Toney "The Hammer" Hannon, Boyd "The Bounty Hunter" Murphy, Saeksan (Saekson) Saengchan Janjura (Janjira), George Tsutsui, Mike "Magicman" Dougherty, Jean-Claude Leuyer, Dan Rawlings, Angela Rivera (Parr), and of course, many Pro boxing Champions such as Montel Griffin, Hector Camacho Jr. Mia St. John, Jessica Rokoski, Jennifer Alcorn, Livingstone Bramble, Paul Nava, Willie Jorrin, Juan Lascano, Michael Simms and MANY MORE...

Now, with all that experience of the fight world within him, Dan has taken yet another progressive step in his life. Tomorrow will be the "Official" grand opening of his now Gym. Although he opened it late last year, tomorrow is the actual Grand Opening.

BBDC Fight and Fitness Gym stands for "Bam Bam's Destruction Crew!" A fitting name for the man behind it. BBDC is located at 1861 Walters Court in Fairfield, California. (94533) The Grand opening tomorrow will start at 10:AM and go until 3:PM.

BBDC offers of course Kickboxing classes but also Boxing, MMA and Cardio Kickboxing. The true focus of the majority of their classes is weight loss, conditioning and toning. They offer fight and fitness classes for men, women and children along with the training of competition fighters. They also have the only 24 foot full size cage in Solano County.

You can e-mail the club at BBDCFightandFitness@yahoo.com

The Gym has a great slogan which should answer the call to anyone looking to get fit...
"Come in today for your free trial! The only thing you have to lose is weight!"

We Say Goodbye To A GREAT MAN!
Larry Jarrett...
"LIONHEART"

Steve Fossum

Larry Jarrett was not just a Kickboxing Champion. Larry was a Father of four to Kaleb, Clayton, Jazmine and Jade, a husband to Pamela as well as a Firefighter, boxer and was also employed by the State of Tennessee Forestry Dept. in Campbell County.

Last Thursday, January 27, 2011, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Kickboxing World lost this great fighter and friend, and also a Great Man from injuries of a tragic car accident. As a LaFollette Firefighter, it was Larry's own colleagues who arrived on the scene and tried to save him. To many he was Larry Jarrett, but to some of us here at the IKF, we will always remember him as a strong fighter that earned our nickname for him of "LionHeart!"

He was a member of the Foust Fight, a Golden Gloves Boxing Gym in Tennessee. However, long before he was in Tennessee Larry lived in Florida and was a proud member of "House of Pain", training under its owner Mike Hollobaugh. "The students loved him, he was passionate about what he did," said Hollobaugh, who has been running House of Pain with his wife, Vickie, since the 1970s. "It didn't matter who, what, when, what size, weight class -- Larry would teach them. He was really tough and students admired him. It was tough love. He taught them all about heart and desire. The students just looked up to him as a role model..

While training with the Hollobaughs Larry (40) won two Kickboxing World Titles (37-6-2 with 14 wins by KO). "A big chunk of the House of Pain just got torn way. It's been hard," Mike Hollobaugh said. "He's going to be greatly missed by everybody."

Jimmy Pack was Jarrett's Captain at the LaFollette Fire Department. Thursday night, the Campbell County Rescue Squad responded to the crash on Old Middlesboro Highway. Several fellow Firefighters are on that team said Pack. "It's a whole different world, when you are working on one of your own," says Pack. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says for an unknown reason Jarrett's car drove off the road, through a fence, taking down a utility pole. Pieces of his car still remain at the scene. The damaged fence is a reminder of what happened.

While training with the Hollobaugh's, Larry was a close friend and team mate of IKF Pro US Champion Erik Marshall. It was back on August 31st, 2002 at the Win-River Casino in Redding, California, that Marshall won his IKF Title. On that same night, Larry too had been scheduled to fight for the vacant IKF World Title in a much anticipated rematch against Anthony Bartanalli who he had already fought in a 10 round, non title bout "WAR" back on October 9th, 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona. The bout that earned Larry his IKF nickname, "Lionheart!"

Larry and Bartanalli were all matched up until just 2 weeks prior to the event when Bartanalli's trainer informed the IKF that Bartanalli was in a car accident and would not be able to fight due to injuries he sustained during the accident. The late notice left promoters Tim and Dan Stell scrambling to try and find a replacement for Larry which never came. The Stell's brought Larry out to California anyway and he and IKF Chief of Officials and retired Kickboxing Champion Dan Stell served up an exciting 2 round kickboxing exhibition for the crowd.

Larry had fought once before for the IKF during his career and it was another 10 round SlugFests against Dave Marinoble back on March 20th, 1999 in Vacaville, California.

On October 6th, 2007 in Louisville Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky, Larry celebrated one of his best Pro Boxing victories when he Knocked out undefeated (21-0) Bradley Williams of Louisville, Kentucky at 2:05 of the 4th round. Williams never fought again after the defeat.

A Husband, Father, Firefighter and Ring Fighter, Larry will be missed by so many yet always remembered here with the IKF

Rest in Peace Larry... You are one of Gods Champions now...

June 30th, 1970 - January 27th, 2011

Results From Billy Sullivan's
"IKF Junior Kickboxing Show"
January 30th, 2011 - Waterford, Ireland

  • WHO: Billy Sullivan
  • WHERE: Waterford Kickboxing Association Gym, Waterford, Ireland
  • WHAT: IKF Junior Kickboxing
  • IKF Representative: Mr. Pete Foley
  • IKF Promoter: Mr. Billy Sullivan, 00353 86 1696035

The first IKF Sanctioned Ireland show of 2011 was promoted by Mr. Billy O' Sullivan at his gym in Northern Extension, Waterford this past Sunday and it was a Junior Light Contact event. It was a huge success with almost 100 enthusiastic kickboxing mad kids aged from the tender age of 5 years old to the more seasoned 16 year olds and there was 53 fights in total.

The event was geared towards giving the kids in attendance some all important ring time and all fights were as evenly matched for age, weight and height as possible and most importantly, there were no injuries. Some of the luckier kids got two fights whenever there was an odd number in the same division but this was in the minority as the matches were all pretty good. It was nice to see all the clubs from around the country pull together and support the event and it was good to see that AKAI was also represented and a special thanks goes out to all the various coaches who refereed and judged all day without complaint.

Some of the coaches who helped out were: Bernard Doyle and Owen Doyle from Dragons Lair in Kilkenny, Christy Stringer and Norman Kelly from Dublin, Sean O Neill, Vinny O Brien, Leanne Carbury and of course Billy O' Sullivan from Waterford, Mick Bland from Top-Pro in Kilkenny, Pat John Mc Cool from Thurles and Pete Foley, Cathal Manning and Eric Daly from Black Dragon Gym in Galway.

The next IKF Sanctioned event will be in the Dalton Hotel, Main St. Claremorris, Co. Mayo on 26th February and the Main Event is Kayne Nelson (Kilkenny) VS Michael Sweeney (Mayo) for the IKF All Ireland AM FCR Light Middleweight Title. Indeed IKF Ireland would like to welcome new Promoter Mr. Karl Egington on board and wish him well with the event.
