PROMOTERS & MATCHMAKERS
It is the DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY of the event IKF Promoter and or IKF Event Matchmaker to inform ( by mail, fax or e-mail ) each Fighter and his/her Trainer(s) (Amateur AND Pro) of ALL the REQUIRED IKF Rules and Regulations Each Fighter and his/her Trainer(s) are Required to Abide By when Participating on an IKF Sanctioned Event BEFORE they arrive at the event.

ALL FIGHTERS
All fighters shall supply their own Protective Equipment for their fight.
Promoter Will Always Provide IKF Approved Fight Gloves.

Each fighters personal safety equipment (Mouth Piece, Cup (Groin Cup Men, Pelvic Protector for Women), Headgear etc.) must be approved by the IKF Event Representative prior to the bout. The IKF event Referee will also confirm the equipment is acceptable once both fighters are in the ring.

*Event FIGHT GLOVES should have "LACES" to secure their fit. "Competition" Gloves with Velcro style closers will be allowed upon IKF approval. Sparring or training gloves will NOT be allowed. If Alternate Equipment is requested to be used by an IKF Promoter, the promoter "May be requested to" send the IKF 1 pair of gloves for IKF inspection and approval. If this is not done, the promoter will not be allowed to use the alternate equipment on their events. ALL Event Fight Gloves must be approved by the IKF "PRIOR" to the event.

These items shall be inspected at the WEIGH-INS and AGAIN inspected prior to the fight to assure that the proper equipment will be used. If a fighter does not have ALL of the necessary protective equipment at the weigh-ins, he/she will have up to 1 hour to provide the IKF with the proof of IKF Approved Equipment. If he/she cannot provide proof of equipment by end of weigh-ins, he/she will be disqualified from fighting and will be issued a TECHNICAL FORFEIT.


EQUIPMENT DETAILS

  • HANDWRAPS
    MANDATORY: Handwraps shall not exceed the following restrictions:

    • One winding of surgeon's adhesive tape, not over one and one-half inches wide, placed directly on the hand to protect that part of the hand near the wrist.
    • Said tape may cross the back of the hand twice but shall not extend within one inch of the knuckles when hand is clenched to make a fist.
    • Contestants shall use soft surgical bandage not over two inches wide, held in place by not more than two yards of surgeons adhesive tape for each hand.
    • One 10 yard roll of bandage shall complete the wrappings for each hand.
    • Bandages shall be adjusted in the dressing room and signed off by the IKF official representative or state athletic commission representative prior to putting on the gloves
    • Contestant, if requested, may witnessing the wrapping of his/her opponent's hand.
    • Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall there be ANY tape on the Front side of the knuckles!
    • DO NOT WET your handwraps after being wrapped.

"CLOTH" Handwraps are acceptable as handwraps for an AMATEUR event.
All PRO bouts must use tape & Gauze only.

      • Headgear is Required For ALL AMATEUR Fighters.
        However, these requirements are based on the below guidelines:.
      • Must be IKF Approved. (It is the Fighters Choice whether to use the type with a cheek protector or not. Some say the cheek protectors block their vision. If so, than we suggest the type without cheek protectors. Again, this is the fighters choice, but it still must be IKF Approved)
      • May not be the type used for sparring with a Solid Jaw Protector or Chin Bar.
      • May not protect the front area of the jaw.
      • No Headgear shall be worn in any Pro Bout.
      • HEADGEAR IS MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD.
        AND MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS WITH LESS THAN **3 BOUTS



  • MOUTHPIECE
    Jaw Joint Protector

    • A Mouth Piece is MANDATORY for every fighter.
      The mouth piece must be formed well enough so that it will stay in the mouth when the mouth is opened.
    • We recommend BRAINPAD Jaw Joint Protector, ( Mouth Piece ) for the best protection.

  • SHIN PADS

    • Full Contact Rules (FCR)
      • MANDATORY for all Full Contact Rules Bouts, Amateur & Pro.

    • MuayThai & International Rules (MTR & IR)
      • Pro Bouts: ONLY allowed in Full Contact Rules Pro Bouts.
      • Amateur Bouts: For Fighters OVER 18 & have 3 bouts or more, they are *Not Mandatory but may be used.
        • MANDATOR in all IKF "AMATEUR TOURNAMENT" competitions.
        • MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD.
        • AND MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS WITH LESS THAN **3 BOUTS

    • Fighters must supply their own Shin Pads. However, in some events, these are provided by the promoter.

      • (*) Shin Guards are MANDATOR for all amateur bouts in FLORIDA.
  • HEADGEAR IS MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD.
    AND MANDATORY FOR ALL FIGHTERS WITH LESS THAN **3 BOUTS

  • MALE FIGHTERS

    • GROIN CUPS

      • MANDATORY: A full tuck under groin cup is mandatory.
      • Must be supplied by each fighter.

  • FEMALE FIGHTERS

    • FOUL-PROOF CHEST PROTECTOR

      • MANDATORY: ALL Women must wear a minimum of a Sports Bra with Padding.
        • Must be supplied by each fighter.
        • Molded Chest Protectors are acceptable.
        • "TRAINING" Chest Protectors are "NOT" allowed.

    • PELVIC PROTECTIVE GIRDLE

      • ENCOURAGED: But Not Mandatory
      • Must be supplied by each fighter.
