DEFINITIONS AND ACTIONS
OF KO & TKO Suspensions

Note On TKO Stops: If the referee stops the
bout before giving a full 10 count and the
fighter is standing up on both feet
"At the time of the stop",
the suspension may only be 30 days
but could also possibly require
written medical approval from a
licensed MD that the fighter is
cleared to fight again.
HOWEVER...
The referee may choose to stop the bout
without/before fully counting to 10 when
the fighter is on the ring floor, in pain,
and it is clear to the referee he/she cannot continue.
This will be ruled a Knockout and
will result in a full 45 day suspension.
The only exceptions to this rule may
be a low blow, accidental injury or
foul injury that caused the downed fighter
to stay down.

SUSPENSION WAIVERS

• All Requested SUSPENSION WAIVERS "MUST INCLUDE"
  • A clear video tape (VHS-USA FORMAT) or DVD of the bout for review.
  • In Writing the following items;
    1. Was the bout stopped by the Referee
       or the Ringside Medical Doctor?
    2. Inform us if it was a Pro or Amateur bout.
    3. The fight record of the fighter in question
       and the opponent.
    4. Was the fighter Male or Female?
    5. Where the bout was.
    6. Who the fighters opponent was.
    7. How many rounds was the bout scheduled for.
    8. Was the bout for a title?
       • If so, what title?
    9. The rule style the bout fought under.
    10. The Referee's name and contact information of the referee.
    11. The scores of the bout up until the stop of
        the fight, if any.
    12. Please explain in your own words the
        circumstances that led to the stop of the bout and
        your personal thoughts before,
        during and after the stop.
    13. Please include a signed
        and dated release of injury from a
        Licensed Medical Doctor
        stating the fighter is cleared to fight in a Kickboxing Bout.

  Fined $750.00 on 4-4-06
  Griffen will be suspended until full fine is paid.
  
  • Dan Griffen of Iowa City, Iowa, USA has been Suspended and Fined by the IKF for "Failure to Show Under Contract." Griffen was scheduled for a Full Contact Kickboxing bout against Travis Bucholz on IKF Promoters Mike Lind and Tom Sullivan's RUMBLE IN THE VALLEY in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA on April 28th, 2006. Griffen couldn't even grant the courtesy of a phone call to the promoters.
  • The suspension is based upon payment of his fine which is equal to his opponents fight purse plus fine fees. Griffen's fine is $1,000.00 and he will be suspended from fighting for a minimum 60 days. If his fine is not paid within the 60 days the suspension will remain in force. Griffen is required to pay his fine to Promoter's Mike Lind and Tom Sullivan.

  • ACTION TAKEN: After waiting 6 months for a formal apology, no apology has come so the IKF has no choice but to Suspended California State Athletic Commission Inspector Mike Tate indefinitely from working ANY IKF Sanctioned event.
    • 1-27-10: ADDITIONAL ACTION: IKF has moved forward with legal action towards this individual and the matter is in review by the IKF Legal Division.
    • Due to advice of the IKF Legal Team, the IKF has also been in discussions with law enforcement in regards to the criminal charges of impersonating a police officer.
