  • There were plenty of highlights for this 11th Annual event. Highlights such as;

    • Becky Hallaran and son Keegan becoming the first ever, mother, son combination to win Tournament titles in the same year.

    • Seeing 17 year old Eli McGlothlin win the IKF Tournament Title a RECORD Setting "5 Years in a Row!" He won his first at age 13!

    • Evan Thompson's "Jaw Dropping" neck kick KO at :27 seconds of round 1 was impressive as he won the quickest KNOCKOUT!

    • However, it was 9 year old Brad Zbilski who won this quickest win in the Tournament with his TKO victory at only :26 seconds of round 1.

    • Julie Keppler becoming the oldest fighter to win the IKF Tournament title at 44 years old.

    • Justin Lawrence tieing the record of winning 6 IKF Tournament titles (John Greubel won his 6th title at the 2007 IKF World Tournament before turning professional.) AND becoming the first ever to win the IKF tournament title in all 3 rule styles!

    • Sean McKinnon's HEAD KICK KO at 59 seconds of round 2 to win his title!

    • Constance Thomason and Danielle Wilson meeting for the 3 time in the Tournament, two of those times was for the Tournament Championship. In this match-up, Thomason defeated Wilson by unanimous decision to win the title.

    • Nathan Key becoming a "4 Time" IKF World Classic Champion!

  • But the one that stood out the most in our minds was the memory of the most impressive Knock Out of the tournament! A "Spinning Hook Kick" by the first fighter to win "4" Tournament bouts by TKO/KO, Eric Parker! Parker won his Championship bout at 48 seconds of round 1! This Spinning Hook Kick came after he defeated all 3 of his previous opponents by TKO as he worked his way through the largest fighter bracket of the tournament. To see it on You Tube Click HERE!

This bout had only gone 59 seconds when Augustine got his arm caught in the ropes and partially dislocated his shoulder. It was a non intentional injury that stopped the bout. If a single fight on a fight card it would have been declaired a "No-contest due to the time fought." However, as per tournament rules, a fighter must continue. The first determination was by the ringside physician, "Could Augustine continue the next day?" The answer was "Yes". Next the judges scored the bout for "Time fought" and the decision was split, 2 for Swade, one for Augustine giving Swade the split decision to move on and Augustine a needed injury rest.
The good news for Augustine is that the loss does not count on his fight record, he was only past up due to the "Tournament Ruling - Time Fought - Scored Decision" circumstance. Sawade also does not get an additional win for the same reason.

Facts & Records Of Past Tournaments

Few Will Know...

Few people ever know who helps out behind the scene of the IKF World Classic. Above is the first of many photos to be posted in the coming weeks. It's photo of TEAM THUNDER or also known as "Dungeon Muay Thai!" Team Thunder is a non profit club. Sensei David Angel (Front left) runs the school at no cost to these young adults. He dedicates his time, money and talent to the team. Those who are a part of the club consider themselves not only a Team but also a family. Their work this past weekend was OUTSTANDING. Setting up and tearing down the rings, moving the ring on Saturday night, and on and on. They fight under Team Thunder Apopka but they are also proud of their school name and what they represent. Sensei Angel (Who also organized our pre event registration medical staff the past few years) takes kids and young adults from the streets and gives them love, confidence and passes on his talent to them so they have a chance of becoming champions. His dream is to one day see his legacy through these young adults being carried on. We here at the IKF would like to take this moment to thank them all GREATLY for their volunteer help at this years 2009 IKF World Classic to help everyone there fulfill their goals and dreams in making this event an outstanding success.

IKF POINT KICKBOXING

IKF World Classic
IKF Point Kickboxing Results

Orlando, Florida, USA

With the completion of another exciting and successful IKF World Classic Tournament, IKF Point Kickboxingcontinues to enlighten as well as give opportunity to compete in an exciting event such as the semi contact IKF Point Kickboxing© divisions designed for men, women and children 5 years and up.

Once again... this year, the person to beat in the men's division was the flasher and talented senior fighter Enrique Franceschi. Franceschi is gifted with great flexibility, high and fast kicks that his opponents just can't seem to get out of the way of. He mixes his kicks and punches with such fluidity that opponents do not know where the tech. is coming from and in no time flat...bang...he got you yet again with his trademark jump spinning back kick! Its know doubt the man to beat in the IKF World Classic is Enrique as it seems that each year he is getting better and better and more prepared for stiffer competition as the IKF/PKB grows in the World Classic.

Here is a name to remember, Raphael Marascio of Helmets New Jersey - this kid does it all- Grappling, Kickboxing and MMA...you name it, he does it but the real art here is that he is only 7 years old...that's right 7! ( this is not a typo). It's clear to anyone who witnessed this kid competing that he is being groomed for the big leagues and the fight world should be served notice that he is coming and coming to get the recognition he will deserve as one of the best! On this day, he would take on one of the toughest young 7 year old girls I think I have ever seen, Lanna Peoples of Little Rock, Arkansas. She gave Raphael all he could handle on this day. It was obvious that he had to dig for this win. This bout had people screaming to the top of their voices and on their feet! It was indeed one of the most exciting bouts perhaps of the entire event...I know...its semi contact but to see these two so intensed and aggressive was very, very entertaining and was certainly a major highlight of the event as people talked about it all weekend.

Although we had a diverse mix of competitors this year that called for some creative divisions, we hope, that as more people learn of IKF Point Kickboxing that they will register early so that others can see that they will have competition. Also, we are attempting to try and find the right time to host this event at the World Classic. We were informed that we lost about 15 competitors due to changing the competition to the evening as opposed to the morning as it was last year. Some liked it and some had issues with it. Those that we lost would have been fine either way, but just need more time to adjust their personal schedules. We will hopefully come to a conclusion on the best time to have the tournament or whether to have it at all at the IKF World Classic by the end of this year so that everyone can be prepared. Feel free to send your thoughts and comments to johnnyd@akpromotions.org
