    LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
    *5 ROUNDS, *Approved by IKF.
    Cecil Tudor (Golden Cobra / Blue Collar Glendale, AZ) VS Frank Bamford (Team Kongnapa)
    
    ROUND 1: This was a great fight from the start to the end! The first round saw Tudor landing good leg kicks and punches to the body. Bamford was coming forward trying to get in but Tudor did a good job keeping him on the outside. Tudor wins round by 2 of the three judges.
    
    Round 2: saw more of the same from both sides, but in this round, the knees started to come into play. A lot of body work from Tudor and from it, he wins the round on all 3 judges score cards.
    
    Round 3: In this round Tudor came out hard in this round with good leg kicks and good punch combos. Then in the middle or the round Tudor lands a hard right hand that hurt Bamford bad. But Tudor couldn't land the KO blow. Bamford in turn, turned it back up on Tudor at the end of the round. Once again, Tudor wins the round on all score cards.
    
    Round 4: In the 4th round Bamford came out hard. either because he knew he was behind on the score cards or because he was simply getting stronger by this round. He hit Tudor with good kicks and punches but his best work was on the inside with his kness to the Tudor's bodyr. Tudor looked like he was trying to get his wind back from the last round when he was trying for the Knock Out however Bamford won the round on two of the three judges score cards.
    
    Round 4: The 5th and final round was a Great Round! Back and forth these two threw some great exchanges! It was clear, both fighters knew they may need this round to win the title. Simply put, this was a great fight, one I know the fans would like to see a rematch of! I know I would.
    
    The last round goes to Bamford by two of the three Judges but it was too little, too late. It was close, but on this night Cecil Tudor took the unanimous decision, 49-46, 48-47 and 48-47 to win the vacant IKF Amateur Muay Thai Southwest Light Heavyweight Title

We are still 37 fighter shy of the overall record of 280 Registered fighters which was set last year. Of those, 237 made it to Orlando, made weight and "Walked The Walk!"

To Stay At The Marriott For The IKF World Classic

Some of you may have noticed the little notation near your name where it is listed in the division you are fighting in at the IKF World Classic. It looks like this;

This little slot is your final acceptance into the IKF World Classic. We will need your room number placed here by the end of weigh-ins on Friday afternoon which will be 5:30 PM.

The ONLY Fighters who are EXEMPT from this rule are fighters living within 50 miles from the hotel. If so, please bring a copy of a mapquest with your address on it AND A DRIVERS LICENSE for proof of location. Some may be asking WHY we have this rule. Well, the rule helps us in many ways, as well as you.

1. First, if we need to locate you for a schedule change, bout change, etc. etc, we need to be able to get a message to you easily through our hotel contacts.
2. If you are injured during the bout and we need to contact your parents, who should also be at the hotel, again, we need to be able to get ahold of you easily.

Those living outside the 50 mile radius and not registered at the host hotel will not be allowed to register to fight. Simply put, we do not want to deal with the problems we have had in the past with issues that arise from the breaking of this rule. Thank you for your understanding.

It is MANDATORY for everyone who is registered to fight in the IKF World Classic Tournament to assure ALL your listed stats and information is correct. If any of it is found to be incorrect you risk being dropped from the tournament.
THIS INCLUDES the correct spelling of your name, city, state you are from, trainers name, fight record, HEIGHT, age, date of birth. So at this time we urge ALL Registered Fighters to check out their listing. If something is missing such as your record or height, we need you to e-mail it to us ASAP!

It is VERY Possible we could not read your writing on your registration forms. We happen to know we have A LOT of cities, trainer names, etc. misspelled or listed incorrect because we simply could not read your writing. This has been especially true for the faxed registrations.

• We urge EVERYONE to look at their Fighter Registration info.

• If you are missing info or we later discover you have not given us your TRUE info (Such as your fight record, height or more so...) you will be dropped from the tournament. • MATCHMAKING
  • As some of you have already seen, we have started placing notes at the top of certain divisions to try and make sure everyone has a match at the Classic. If not yet, you may see a note by your name asking you to move to another weightclass or rule style to create your tournament Bracket. The goal is to have a "Minimum" of 4 fighters in EVERY Fighter Bracket. This may not be possible in some cases where there just isn't anyone else to match you up with. In these extreme cases, we may have a Division with less then 4 fighters.
  • As noted above, when you answer these requests, PLEASE do so by e-mail at main@ikfkickboxing.com - This saves us time and allows us and you to have a record of the changes agreed on.
  • WHY A MINIMUM OF 4 FIGHTERS IN A DIVISION?
    • ONLY Divisions with 4 or more fighters will be BELT divisions. However, if we cannot strengthen the division by combining divisions around yours, and all that is possible is a 2 or 3 fighter division, we will keep such a division as a BELT division.

• DIVISION/BRACKET CHANGE REQUESTS
  • Every year we have new fighters or trainers that are not aware of the reasons behind our requirements to switch a fighters fighting division after already being registered. The reason is simple. In the past, some fighters saw too much competition in their bracket division, so they asked to be moved where they may have less or easier fights to win their title. Because of this, we have created the following rule for Bracket change requests
    • You can only move to another bracket that has the same number or more fighters in it.
    • The bracket you move to must have equal or tougher competition (Reference to fight records).
    • Your reasons for change must be approved by the IKF. You can't just change because you want to, there needs to be a justified reason.

If not approved, the IKF will have chest protectors for you to use. "KARATE" style chest protectors will not be allowed. The chest protector must be for Full Contact style fighting.

  • If you are a Registered Fighter for the IKF World Classic and have the words "NEED PHOTO" listed after your name in the registered Fighters Brackets, you have until FRIDAY, July 9th, 2010, 12 NOON to get your photo to us to avoid paying a $35 Photo Fee at Registrations.
  • Keep in mind this fee is a "Deterrent" so that all photos are in and we do not have long lines with People needing photos taken and passes made. If you still have the words NEED PHOTO by your name you can either express mail your 2" x 2" headshot photo to us or e-mail one to us in a jpg file.
  • WHY
    • ALL Photos are placed on your Tournament ID PASS. Without it, you will have to pay a spectator ticket fee to enter the Tournament. The photo is to prevent someone else using your ID Pass if you should lose it or have it stolen.

Quality Promotions will Resurrect Kickboxing
Thought of the week from AK Promotions: Johnny Davis

It's no secret that Kickboxing has taken a hit in the past few years. Much of it can be blamed on those of us involved in the sport. Lets be clear, Kickboxing is a great sport and one that fight fans around the world appreciate. Although the world had been enthralled with other forms of martial arts for the past few years, those watching closely quickly recognize that its the head kick knockout or the cross, knee to head etc. that gets a crowd on the feet! Therefore, this writer will go as far as saying that one of the best things in the multifaceted sport of MMA is the techniques of Kickboxing. Kickboxing has a chance of standing on its own just as the sport of boxing has over the years even with the onslaught of MMA. Just like all of the talented MMA fighters who are striving to make their mark in their sport, so too are those that are awaiting the opportunity to show how great the sport of Muay Thai and Kickboxing is.

The basics of Kickboxing is truth without saying a word. Solid boxing techniques and basic kicks, knees and in some cases elbows done in combination sounds aloud a simplistic but complex art form that beckons to be recognized.

As fighters, promoters and fans of the sport, we must stand up for Kickboxing and be proud of our accomplishments over the years. We should be proud of the athletes and promoters who have chosen to stick around waiting on this great sport to get new footing. With a few solid promotions over the past year or so from some promoters in the United States and others like in Europe and Mexico for example, the sport is on the rise again! Moreover, while recently scanning the internet, I noticed some organizations calling events world championships and they were being held in unlikely locations that did not have the appearance of world class on it.

However, when you see events like the forthcoming IKF World Classic being held at the largest Marriott in the World in Orlando, Florida, the quality of the event speaks volumes. More than likely this is why the IKF World Classic is in its 12th year with over 200 pre-registered fighters well ahead of the final deadline.

Quality! Passion! Commitment! Sacrifice!

For those wanting to promote the sport, just know that it takes a lot of commitment and practice. Additionally, as many find out, its not a get rich quick game. In fact, it takes many years of sacrifice and one only hopes to see a profit while growing their company. Nevertheless, you, the promoter, must continue to demand quality and organized events with quality athletes that give their best while being professional, even as an Amateur Fighter. The day will come when all of your hard work and efforts will pay off and those from near and afar observing your efforts will applaud! Stay true to this great sport and the resurrection and resurgence of Kickboxing will soon engulf the world stage again...believe it and achieve it! Forward March!

In Cannes & Around The World!

This past year "The Dragon" has been skipping all over the world. He was recently at the Cannes Film Festival (Right) back in May and along with several other interviews, he was on the The Pauly D show. Check it out by clicking HERE!

As many here already know, Don will be a special guest as always at the IKF World Classic this coming July 23rd, 24th and 25th at the Largest Marriott in the World, the Marriott World Center in Orlando Florida. Don will be around on Friday, July 23rd, but will need to hop on a plane Friday night to do an appearance in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday.

Sunday morning he will be back on a plane back to Orlando to help hand out some World Classic Belts and take some photos with the fighters and fans at the Tournament.

This year alone Don has been all over North America doing seminars as well as all over Europe in places such as Germany, (Shown Below) Cyprus and Palermo Italy. IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing…
Ready for the 2010 IKF World Classic
Orlando, Florida, USA

Summer has arrived and so has the time to get registered for the 12th IKF World Kickboxing Classic (July 23rd, 24th and 25th) in Orlando, Florida, USA. This event is one of the most prestigious events for amateur kickboxing in the world! Those who are in the know- know that this event is one that should not be missed especially by those serious about their future as well as adding the words of IKF World Classic Champion to their resume.

The ever-growing IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Division has been growing in leaps and bounds in the past two years at the World Classic. This year, several gyms are promising to bring out as many fighters as possible that will only make the tournament even better! Already, we are seeing more pre-registrations from semi-contact fighters around the world. As usual, we expect an even bigger group to enter for later registration this year, which is as late as Saturday, July 24th at 12:Noon. The competition will start at 6:PM to be the evening entertainment for the World Classic.

Additionally, with our IKF/ PKB Florida Representative Mr. Jerry Mendez and Mr. Dan Paneda hosting exciting IKF/ PKB Events in Florida in the past year, we are hoping to see a lot more Floridians on board and ready to compete. Both gentlemen will be on hand to assist with officiating.

Men, Women and Children as young as 5 years and as old as "dirt" can compete (lol - :) ), as long as there is someone in their division to fight. The action will be hot but of course as always, the semi contact rule is in full affect as there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. There will be divisions in IKF/Point Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles. However, sometimes we have to mix and match to assure everyone coming gets a fair fight.

Everyone planning to bring their fighters really needs to know the difference in this competition and what will be going on in the main arena. The semi contact rules must be paramount. However, in saying this, we encourage you to use your speed instead of power and focus on the points and you will have a great time at this event! Moreover, BE IN SHAPE, the 2, 2 minute rounds with 1 round of OT is in affect for this event. We will modify it for the Junior Fighters, but be in shape and ready to rock as these rounds seem a lot longer than it sounds on paper.

Just as last year's event, the World Classic will be held at the largest Marriott in the world in Orlando, Florida. This beautiful location is one that stands out and the luxury rooms and exciting scenery with Disney World just a stone throw away, makes it a great location for such an event. Heck, planning your family's vacation around the tourney at this wonderful location is not a bad idea!

In addition to semi contact, The IKF World Classic will again have the best divisions of Full contact bouts with divisions in Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles. Over 200 fighters will travel afar to prove one thing…That they are the best!

Some will come with an illusion of greatness and others will come with a vision for victory but either way, their destiny will need to be decided in the ring! When you get a ton of fighters, trainers and pumped up fans in one room hungry for a fight and hungry for a win…its going to be a lot of fireworks going off even if the 4th of July has past!

We still have a little over 3 weeks until the final registration deadline and as of today, Monday, June 14th we have a total of 224 registered fighters for this years IKF World Classic! The overall fighter registration record was set last year and it was 280 with 237 actually making it to Orlando, making weight and "Walking The Walk!" So far we have not lost any fighters from dropping out, but time will tell if anyone ends up throwing in the towel before fight time. FRIDAY, JUNE 11th
Is Yet Another World Classic Registration Deadline

While you may be waiting to see how tough the competition is in the various divisions, your registration fee is going up every few days... After last Friday, all registrations had a $30 late fee. After 5:00 PM Tomorrow, June 11th, there will be a $40 late fee and there are several other deadline dates to keep track of after that. To know what your fee will be when you register, check out the "Deadline" page by clicking HERE!

Still, even with the late fee, compared to a regular karate style tournament (where base entree fees start at over $100 ) or ANY OTHER KICKBOXING OR MUAY THAI TOURNAMENT, the IKF World Classic offers far more than any event for every participant! The IKF has kept the base registration fee at $55 for "8 YEARS NOW!" Many say the IKF is well deserving of a fee raise and if so, it would indeed help the cost of the tournament a lot.

Keep in mind this event is not just hosted at any basic venue hotel. This event is held in the Grandest of venues, the Marriott World Center which is the Largest Mariott in the World! As former 11 time World Kickboxing Champion Don "The Dragon" Wilson put it, it's "A World Class Venue For A World Class Event!"

It's not like the Champions are receiving cheap awards either. ALL Champions from Juniors to adults will receive a Championship belt valued at over $300.00. But it doesn't stop there, Champions will receive other awards as well and so will every other participant! As in past years, EVERY fighter will be ahead of their $$ after registrations where they all receive gifts from various sponsors worth well over their registration fees.

     • Registration Fee of $155.00. ($160 if by Credit Card)
     • MUST INCLUDE HEADSHOT PHOTO! No Photo, NO REGISTRATION!
       • Photo can be mailed if RECEIVED at IKF Office BEFORE Friday, July 9th at 3:00 PM.

We know there are a lot more Kickboxing Officials in the South East and we need them to help out if they can. They do not have to be IKF Registered Officials either. We welcome ANY and ALL Qualified Kickboxing and Muay Thai Officials to the Tournament.

We are in need of Judges, Referees, Doctors and Timekeepers. If you can help out, the fighters and other already confirmed Tournament Officials would greatly appreciate it.

As long as you work more than a bout or two here and there, like we did last year, this year the IKF will be paying for the lunches and dinners of our dedicated Officials. • *42: That's how many more registrations we received yesterday (Thursday) for the 2010 IKF World Classic!
  • All of these new names will be posted for you to see by 12 noon today.
• *118: This is the total number of currently registered fighters for this year's 2010 IKF World Classic!
• *167: Is the record set last year for number of fighters registered before the FIRST Deadline, which for this year is Today, Friday, June 4th at 5:00 PM Pacific Time (California Time)
• *50: The number of fighters we need to register today to beat last years record. Is it possible? Absolutely because last year we received "71" registrations on the final first deadline day!

(*) It's actually less because we missed a UPS delivery yesterday from Team Nawaz from Canada. So those registrations will count for Thursday, however many there are.

Today is the first of several Deadlines. For those looking to avoid any LATE FEES, you have until 5:00 PM Pacific Time TODAY to get your registrations in. After that, you will have late fees to pay. the FINAL DEADLINE is Friday, July 9th at 3:00 PM/PST. To see deadline details click HERE!

You don't have to worry about things that can be added later such as Photos and Birth Certificates. Just get your Registration Form filled out, include your credit card number in the CC Section of the form and fax it in: 916-663-4510.

You can fax in birth certificates later and as far as photos go, you can send them by e-mail as a jpg file.
