T.J. Arcangle...
Is He Ready for the Next Step?

Prepares For His Toughest Battle Coming October 8th In Oakland, California, USA!

See October 8th Commercial - Click HERE!

T. J. Arcangle a name not easily forgotten once heard. I guess one could say that once you see him fight, it sort of difficult to forget his talents demonstrated in the ring as well. About three years ago AK Promotions President Johnny Davis witnessed this young and very talented debut fighter executing skills in the ring with control and the fluency of a more experience fighter. Davis spoke to Trainer Kru Sam Phimsoutham immediately following the event and ask to further promote the young talent and " if he has what it takes...we will see if we can get him a world title opportunity" said Davis.

Having what it took and now sporting an 11-1 record, Arcangle has defeated all in his path with the exception of one who has since moved on to professional mixed martial arts. Even that loss was questioned by many but after all, it is the fight business where judging is subjective. Along the way, Arcangle has won International Kickboxing Federation ( IKF) California and a United States Muay Thai Kickboxing Titles and is now set to fight for the IKF World title. (Pictured below right, Arcangle lands strong kick to head of opponent)

Arcangle has been building his name and his following around the San Francisco Bay area. In fact, hundreds of family and friends are expected to be on hand to see if he can actually take the next step to win a world championship. Arcangle who is simply one of the nicest and most respectful individual you will meet knows what this opportunity means as it will imprint him forever as a world champion. There will be Arcangle T Shirts for sale at the event and yes a ton of fans and well-wishers.

However, there is a problem...his last name is Hamm....Johan Hamm.... that's pronounced Jo-Han. From Calgary Canada. (Right)

Hamm and his renown trainer Trevor Smandych are making it clear that they are not coming to the States to leave empty handed. As the 2010 IKF World Classic Lightweight Muay Thai Champion.. (A tournament that host some of best fighters from around the world) Hamm dominated the division.

His experience speaks volumes. With 19 wins and 10 defeats he is the IKF number one contender. He won his IKF World Classic Tournament title in one of the largest brackets of the tournament. He had to fight "FOUR" times over two days to take home his IKF Gold. He shows he's been around for more than one season and has weathered many storms. Arcangle's youth will need to mature very fast on the night of October 8th, 2011 as this epic battle kicks off at the Oakland Convention Center adjacent to the Marriott Hotel where fighters and guests will be staying.

AK Promotions is proud to be putting on yet another exciting edition of IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing as it is expecting a large turnout for this event. "This is hopefully the start of bringing in more international competitors as we continue to re-define our great sport and move it to the top of contacts sports around the world. We have the talented fighters and fans all we need is more support from sponsors and TV and we are there"... says Davis.

With yet another AK Promotions' World Champion Jon "The Hawk" Pryor of Sacramento, California on the card who had to postpone his last fight due to injury and is now stepping up against the number one contender Skyler Pena of San Francisco, CA to defend his title, only makes for an even bigger event! Pryor is out to prove himself again to the naysayers of his sometime reluctance to go deep into battle in the ring. However, his trainer Cedric Robinson, a highly skilled Taekwondo instructor, exclaims that his guy is very ready to show what he's really made of.

There will be two more titles on the line. 2011 IKF World Classic Champion Nemo Vier of Fairfield, California actually started competing in the semi contact IKF Point Kickboxing division. From his start there he has since been getting stronger and stronger in the full contact arena. Vier will be taking on the very talented Dee Alhadi of San Jose, California. Alhadi showed impressive skill and as a point... is built like a truck.. In a bout back on April 30th at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California winning by knockout. Alhadi and Vier will definitely be a tremendous battle as both would love to add the IKF California Lightweight title to their treasure chest.

Finally, Ron Jacildo of Vallejo, California always has a smile for you. When you first meet him, fighter... would not come to mind. But in fact, a fighter is exactly what he is and he's skillful at just that. At 5-1, Bell Tran of San Leandro, California plans to swipe the smile as well as the IKF Title from Jacildo in what should pan out to be a fast paced fight between these two Bantamweights for the IKF California Muay Thai Bantamweights Title.

With a full card of currently 15-17 fights (card subject to change) it should be a night to remember. Here's a partial list of those important people who will make it all happen;

  • DJ Marlo Bucajit pumping out the jams.
  • Announcer Mr. Wayne Wilson keeping the fans into the action.
  • R & B recording artist Aaron Young crooning the National Anthem.
  • United States Marine Core
  • Ring girls (Below at the Right) gracing the ring.

  • Security provided by Ready Response Security of San Jose, California

IKF Fight Night
Gort, Ireland

Kickboxing in Galway has never been stronger - and after the IKF (International Kickboxing Federation) sanctioned event in Gort community hall on Saturday night, it has moved to an even higher level. Local fighter Eric Daly, who was the current All Ireland & 5 Nations full contact kickboxing champion, took on number 1 ranked European fighter Sarwar Hamid who fights out of the well respected "kicks gym" in Brighton under the guidance of Chris Kent.

The prize on this occasion was the IKF European Super Lightweight full contact kickboxing title. The fight, which was of course the main event lived up to all expectations and went the full championship distance between the two world class athletes and had the crowd in a frenzy throughout. Both men tipped the scales exactly the same and spot on the weight division. Both entered the ring in tip top condition and their fitness was a credit to both camps as the pace was incredible. Both Daly and Hamid showed superb kicking ability coupled with excellent boxing skills. However on this night it was Daly who really impressed the judges with a hunger and desire reserved only for people at the top of their game.

Hamid started the fight with a thunderous spinning heel kick to Dalys head which would have knocked out an ox, but somehow Eric kept his composure and evaded it and came back with a flurry of well placed kicks and sharp boxing combinations which backed Hamid up. Hamid came to fight and really pushed Daly to his limits but Daly was the faster and stronger fighter throughout and had the UK man in trouble in the fourth round with front kicks to the face and vicious body punches which slowed him down.

The fifth and final round had Daly ahead on all score cards and Hamid needed a knockout to claim victory. With this known he came out with all guns blazing but Daly was on fire at this point and in total control of the fight. Halfway through the round he landed a jump spinning back to Hamids head, the kind that would normally be reserved for a Hollywood action movie and one which went down a treat with all present as the roof nearly came off the centre.

At the final bell, both men showed the respect they had for each other in true sporting fashion as they exchanged hugs which was in stark contrast to the war they had just been through. MC Mr. Alan Duggan announced the winner - "In the red corner" and the small town of Gort and indeed Ireland, had a new European Kickboxing Champion, Eric Daly!

Claregalways Martin Murray also won a major title as he defeated Dungarvans Keith Moroney for the vacant IKF Junior Welterweight kickboxing title in a technical fight that showcased the sport in all the right ways.Gary Manogue, James Ward and Aidan Brooks all won their bouts by TKO and indeed Aidan Brooks took the best knockout of the night award and the €100 prize money which he kindly donated to a Gort based charity.

All in all the Galway Black Dragon kickboxing club had a very successful night as out of the nineteen fights on the card, they had a total of 16 fighters out with 11 wins, 1 draw and just 4 defeats. The club extends warm thanks to everyone who helped make the night a success and especially to the sponsors which include Peter Minihanes of Supervalu in Gort, Ger Cloherty construction and the Arches hotel, Claregalway and the Gort community centre and of course to all the fighters, coaches and fight fans who travelled from all across Ireland, England and Scotland and to the set up crew who worked tirelessly to get the event ready. New European champ Eric Daly will start a kickboxing club in the Gort community centre on Wednesday, 5th October at 5.30pm for juniors and at 6.30pm for adults and all are welcome.

Here are all the nights results along with any required medical suspensions:

IKF WEST COAST CLASSIC
INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR
MUAY THAI / KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS!

First Registration Deadline Approaching
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30th!

Register Now and Save $30

EVENT DATE: November 25th, 26th and 27th, Sacramento, California, USA
IKF West Coast Classic Information

Fighters and Trainers, we wanted to remind you that the first of several fighter registration deadlines is approaching for the 1st Annual
IKF West Coast Classic
International Amateur
Muay Thai / Kickboxing Championships.

Why pay more?
Get your registration in now before September 30th and Save $30...
After that it goes up $40, $50 etc. for each deadline until the final deadline of November 4th!

Do not wait to see if someone is in your division. Divisions with no one in them as of the first deadline of SEPTEMBER 30th WILL CLOSE!

So your early registration keeps the division that you want to fight in OPEN!
Registration for this event is already going great! Like the IKF "WORLD" Classic, many will wait until the next two weeks and some...even with larger fees... wait later to enter this awesome event. California has so far been well represented but we can almost assure you that based on the conversation had with several gyms, answering many questions etc....the number from California alone will most likely be over 100 fighters and will break all records for a State registration! Our team has made an asserted effort to assure every gym on the West Coast has been contacted and, or informed about this event. Moreover, the longstanding worldwide relationship we have with gyms is assuring the world is informed about attending this event!

Typically, other countries and states tend to wait until the last minute to enter...However, keep in mind, we are already ahead in registrations as compared to last years IKF World Classic. Remember, your seeding is based upon WHEN you register, and NOTHING else. So the longer you wait, the lower down in the bracket you will be seeded. For those skeptics out there, "IF" you register and it turns out no one else challenges you in your division, you WILL BE GIVEN A FULL REFUND! However in the many years of the IKF Tournaments, refunds are rare because this is the ultimate chance for all fighters to
"Walk The Walk!"
We look forward to seeing your name appear soon on the Registered Fighters Page!

Don't forget too reserve your Hotel Rooms at the Radisson in Sacramento as the Room Block may fill up and if this happen, you may also be required to pay higher registration fee. Remember to use the IKF West Coast Classic Kickboxing code when registering by phone or use the direct link below. US and Canada (916) 922-2020 - US Reservations: 1-800-395-7046.
Hotel Reservation Information Click HERE!

Don't be one of those that just wait and see. Be one that makes it happen while at the same time getting an opportunity of a lifetime to
BE A CHAMPION FOREVER!

"Obviously my kickboxing is my strength, but I can take a fight anywhere. I've won one by submission already," says Thompson.
"I'm really happy to be represented by Alchemist. They're a major player in MMA and I feel blessed that they see enough talent in me to bring me into their stable."

Thompson currently trains out of
UpState Karate in Simpsonville, South Carolina,
but has traveled the world training with such MMA notables as Nate Marquardt, Georges St Pierre, Keith Jardine and Rashad Evans.

Results From Billy O' Sullivan's
"Tension in the Extension"
August 28th, 2011 - Waterford, Ireland

South East Kickboxing Maestro, Master Billy O' Sullivan promoted yet another successful full contact kickboxing tournament at his impressive gym in the Northern Extension, Waterford on Sunday 28th August. Even though it was the peak of a very dismal summer and most clubs wouldn't quite be in full swing, Billy still managed to persuade no less than 30 novice fighters from all across the country to take part in the event which resulted in 15 quality bouts. The aim of the show was to help promote the sport by giving novice fighters a chance to beef up their records or indeed enter the ring for the first time in an unintimidating surrounding without the hype of a big event and also to field train some new judges and referees for the IKF.

There was no main event as such, no superstars or big names on the card as it was all to give the upcoming stars of the game a chance to shine and shine they did, as win, lose or draw, the event ran as smooth as silk with no bickering or arguments over decisions etc. The next big IKF event for Master O' Sullivan is to be held in the Rainbow Hall, Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford, Ireland on Saturday 10th December when Waterfords IKF All Ireland Middleweight Champion Sean O' Neill makes a mandatory 1st defence of his crown and Junior fight sensation Dylan Moran from the same camp will make a bid for the IKF Junior All Ireland Lightweight Title. The promoter is already looking for an undercard and appeals to all coaches to send their lists of available fighters.

IKF US Super Heavyweight Champion
Xavier Vigney Defends Against Matt King of Dublin!

"Portions" of this article were previously run on the July, 2011 News Page
However there has been additional news and changes added to the version below.

Muay Thai / Kickboxing!
Say it loud and say it proud!
Muay Thai / Kickboxing! How great thou art!

What can one say when you have some of the most talented fighters in the world and some of the most disciplined fighters in the world showcasing the best of themselves each and every time they are given the opportunity.

They do not do this for the millions of dollars that other contact sports enjoy. They do not do if for TV exposure as there is little of that; They do it for the most part for one reason...

PASSION!

Kickboxers around the world had to take a second or third seat to other contact sports but what kickboxers are starting to realize again is that indeed they are special athletes that will stand tall on any stage anywhere on the planet! What Kickboxers are realizing more and more is that the dedication and hard work they put in the gym deserves to be showcased in front of the elites of the world and the millions of fight fans who enjoy their pure exploits of brilliant athleticism.

Passion... It burns in every real fighter and its this passion that so many in the kickboxing world have that will take the sport to the next level and those that continue to come out to kickboxing shows that are promoted and produced with that same kind of PASSION, will show why TV executives, huge casino owners and mega sports entertainment companies are simply missing the boat by not getting on board!

To put it simply...they are missing their Starbucks moment but perhaps soon...someone will wakeup and "smell the coffee," step up and give the fighters, fans and the sport what it deserves!

Along with tomorrow nights event, another AK Promotions event has been scheduled for October 8th at the Oakland Convention Center in Oakland, California, USA in preparation for the First Annual IKF West Coast Classic Tournament that will be held in Sacramento at the Sacramento Radisson Hotel in late November. The First Annual IKF West Coast Classic will have fighters from around the world participating in this "Golden Glove like" tournament in assorted rules styles adding to a full weekend of action-packed fights, vendors, movie stars and more... Simply put,

"The future is getting brighter for Kickboxing! And all of us here at the IKF can feel it comin!"

For those that have been in the audience at one of the many AK Promotions shows held mostly in the Sacramento, California area over the past three years, you have witnessed several fighters like Jon "The Hawk" Pryor of Sacramento ascend to the top of his division and now is the man to beat as the new World Champion. Unfortunately the IKF was informed that a late injury took Pryor out of this event this week. Pryor was due to defend his IKF World Title against top ranked Damien Early, Early is from Phoenix Arizona and has 12 wins and only one defeat. His impressive 6' frame at 153 lbs. made this bout quite possibly one of the toughest test yet for Pryor in the ring. The IKF and AK Promotions were hoping to get this bout moved to AK Promotions October event, however Early and his camp has another commitment for him elsewhere, so sadly, this match-up will have to wait awhile. AK Promotions and the IKF are looking to see who Pryor can defend against in October and should have a challenger named soon.

You have also witness fighters like Daniel "Hitman" Hodges of Rocklin, California win numerous titles in rugged good old fashion, never a dull - moment brawls! T.J. Arcangle of San Francisco, California continues to display technical brilliance in his quest for an IKF World Title and newcomer, Ed Abosolo of Vallejo, California is determined to demonstrate he will be a force to recon with for sometime.

However, of these, one of the most impressive performances has been the comeback kid who fought his way back to the top of the division after suffering a devastating knockout!

Xavier "Sagat" Vigney

However many thought the referee on that bout should have given Vigney an 8 count when John Hurny of San Jose, California clocked him with a huge overhand right at :59 seconds of round 1. Instead the referee just stopped the fight. Regardless, Hurny advanced to fight for the vacant IKF Super Heavyweight USA Title against Manuel Mancha who on that same night, took out Hugo Dominguez of Patterson, California in only 14 seconds of the first round with a head kick KO! To Vigney, Hurny was getting to fight for the title he believed was HIS! Hurny went on to defeat Mancha by Head Kick Knockout at 1:44 of Round 3.

As time went by, Dominguez was out of the title hunt. However, both Mancha and Vigney desperately desired to earn their way back for another shot at the Champ. So, on April 30th, 2011 in Lincoln, California, USA Vigney and Mancha stepped up to fight for the vacant IKF Amateur Muay Thai California Super Heavyweight title. In the end, we saw a drastically improved Vigney win the Title over Mancha by TKO at 1:17 of round 4.

When we say "Drastically Improved" what we mean is pretty direct. Against Hurny, Vigney looked confused, not sure of himself and his own potential. He seemed to still be learning how to use his size in his favor as well as his simple weapons such as his jab. However, against Mancha, he had not only found his confidence, but also his jab, his cross, his knees and a load of other weapons he and trainer Dan Black had worked on. In a short time, Black had transformed the 6'7" Vigney into a legit as well as feared "Fighting Machine!"

He was tall, but no longer slow and sloppy. His punches snapped, and snapped the heads of his opponents as well. He had proven he truly deserved to meet Hurny again in a much desired rematch for Hurny's IKF USA Title... The title Vigney believed was HIS! So be it... The two met up in what would be Hurny's first IKF title defense. There is an old saying in the fight game, "It's easier to go after the title than it is to defend it." A lesson Hurny seemed to learn on this night. We're not saying Hurny didn't want to win, or didn't want to stay on top. However, what we are saying is that the Hurny we saw on this night was not the "HUNGRY" Hurny we saw when he won the title!

From start to finish, Vigney showed he wanted what he thought should have been his in the first place much more than the Champion showed he wanted to keep it. (Action of this bout at right) In the ring with the two this time would be a more seasoned, experienced referee, Dan Stell. As the final bell sounded, there was no doubt from anyone. We all knew there was a new Champion, and a proud one at that as Vigney got his revenge, defeated and took from Hurny the IKF Super Heavyweight USA Title by unanimous decision, 49-44 on all 3 judges cards.

Vigney VS Hurney "2"
Vigney wins title by unanimous decision, 49-44 on all 3 cards.

Xavier Vigney
IKF Amateur United States
Super Heavyweight Champion

IKF AMATEUR MMTR UNITED STATES
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE *DEFENSE

*Vigney makes home in of Pleasant Hill, California. He has the skill, personality and stature to begin to change the game for the sport! Skill-wise, his boxing ability is as good as the Klitchko brothers who both stand around 6'7/8" and are current World Boxing Champions. Fight fans love the big guys!

Personality- wise... Vigney is simply one of the most personable people you would ever want to meet and one you would want as your neighbor as well as a role model for your kids. At 6'8", he's noticeable in any arena and will make you take notice, as you should when he steps into the room or the ring.

Vigney's gentle giant demeaner on the outside of the ring is a contradiction to what we witness in combat...he's a wrecking machine trying to get you out of there...Believe that!

Vigney's full package will garner attention from the naysayers and when they see him fight, they will also be impressed with this young man who unless someone can stop the "Sagat Train" is destined to become a World Champion!

Tomorrow night, September 2nd, in Sacramento at the Doubletree Hotel, 6'5" Matt King of Dublin will get his chance. With his 6 wins with only 2 losses, he should give Vigney a run. However, if he is not successful, the rest of the world is welcome to send in their request to try and derail one that currently seems unstoppable on his quest to the top!

Matt King
Rohnart Park, California, USA
6-2, 235, 6'4"

IKF AMATEUR FULL MUAY THAI RULES
UNITED STATES LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE

Ed Abosolo (L)...is a star and a Champion!
He just Is!
If you have the opportunity, walk up to this guy and you will feel stardom written all over him.
Frankly, as one spectator in the audience at his last fight noted...

"He is one of the coolest fighters you have ever witnessed in the ring."

Dancing on his entrance to the ring, calculating his opponent's every thought with precision and has an offensive and defensive strategy for every move. Abosolo enters the ring like its his office and the opponent is visiting for a business meeting. After he dismantles them, he bows and shakes their hand showing respect but at the same time, he confidently gives notice to everyone in the Light Middleweight and Middleweight division that he is the man to beat... so come get some!

It was only a few hours ago that AK Promotions and the IKF here thought that 'coming to get some and do some taking too' would be Abosolo's toughest challenge to date, Armin Safiari. Safiari had an undefeated record of 8-0 and was 3-0 in amateur MMA. However as it became time to "Walk the Walk" AK Promotions was notified by Safiari's trainer that he had to pull out of the fight for personal reasons. Rather than dwell on the reasons and get into the drama, AK Promotions Johnny Davis simply felt, "It is what it is" and got to work seeking a replacement fighter for Abosolo. Within a couple hours, Davis and the IKF confirmed current IKF Full Muay Thai Rules West Coast Champion Quincy Schoemann, of Oakdale, California. Schoemann has a record of 7-2, stands 5'10" and is trained by Tom Theofanopoulos. He won his IKF West Coast title on April 10th, 2010 in Roseville, California, USA when he defeated Nicholas Balestra by Knockout when Balestra could not make the 10 count after a strong leg kick by Schoemann.

This match-up may be an even tougher challenge for Abosolo. Schoemann has some great skills and neither are going to have a lot of time to study any bout footage on the other between now and fight time. Surly these two will take the same approach Davis took in saving the title, "It is what it is" and if we know these two like we think we do, they both are thinking just one thing... "Bring It ON and have my belt ready for me in the end!" This is a Great match-up and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing it and crowning a new IKF champion between these two great warriors!

NOTE: The IKF Would Like To Extend A Special Thank You to Quincey Schoemann and his trainer Tom Theofanopoulos for accepting this bout on such short notice.
Thank you for stepping up to "Walk the Walk!"
We are certain that fighter Ed Abosolo and his trainer Trey Howard are appreciative of you as well.

IKF AMATEUR FULL MUAY THAI RULES
WEST COAST SUPER
LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE BOUT

Fighting for the vacant IKF Amateur Full Muay Thai Rules West Coast Super Lightweight Title Bout will be Jesus Sosa (L) of Oakland, California, USA with a record of 6-2. Sosa is the current IKF California Super Lightweight Champion. He won his title on May 21st, 2011 in San Francisco, California when he defeated Gaston Balanos by Knockout at :26 seconds of round 3.

Sosa will meet up against Eric Luna (R) of San Jose, California, USA. To some, Sosa is a throw-back fighter with guts and balls to go with it! He comes at you like a bull but with tricks like a matador. Adding to this is his heavy hands that will knock you out as he showed his last two opponents.

Luna has been around awhile and has a lot of experience with excellent training by his world champion coach Derek Yuen. His fight record stands at an impressive 14-2. Some of that experience was in winning the Gold Medal in the Light Welterweight division at the 2009 IMFA world championships held in Bangkok, Thailand.

If Sosa shows any of the potential he has shown in recent fights, Luna may want to polish up his game plan and be sure he's ready for a war because that is exactly what this exciting match up will be! However, If Sosa did his homework, he knows that Luna is no pushover, and has plans to bring home the IKF Gold this time.

One thing Luna can be assured of... Unlike when he defeated Sterling Seymour back in 2008, AK Promotions and the IKF will indeed have a Title Belt for him, unlike the defunct WCSC promoter who keeps telling him, "I have your belt in my office and I'll bring it to you."

AK Promotions is once again presenting two very talented junior fighters. Both fighters have a ton of "Smoker and unregulated" experience mostly because the State of California has only recently allowed junior Kickboxing fighters to compete. Although, they are making their official debut, both fighters have well over 18 fights each and will show great techniques.

Word is out on Dakota Huizar (L) of Concord, California that he is one of the most talented juniors out there.

However, we have seen Robert Burgess (R) of Ceres, California and he is no joke either. This bout, like many who saw the last junior bout, are saying that it could be the fight of the night…Yes, with all of the great matches schedules, these two juniors could steal the show.

Both are so hungry and determined and both know that with a win an IKF Title opportunity is ASSURED! So, there will be a lot at stake for these two juniors and the only question left is

"Who will want it most and be willing to 'go to the mud' for the victory."

We will see!

Along with an incredible line up of fighters from across the state, this will once again be yet another great evening of IKF Championship Kickboxing and yet another showing of the greatness of the fighters who will be performing for a packed house in the
Grand Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel.
